1970's bboy inspired fashion

A recent project that I did combining both 2 of my favorite things together, fashion and breakdancing.
Fabric sourced from vintage stores, inspired by 1970's bboying scene and fashion.

One of my very first design assignment

This was one of my work from my very first semester at the Academy of Art, MFA program. With no fashion background and very little drawing skills, it was a great breakthrough to come up with a complete project.  Really fun to see how much passion and love I had for fashion design, it was kind of all over the place, with little control and understanding of a collection, but it was really fun and it's really good to always go back to old assignments to review them again.

My other life apart from fashion- Breaking

I am also a bgirl and I love breakdancing. I have been bboying for the past 2 years and I train hard.
This is a gig that we did for "Tourettes without Regrets" in Oakland, August 2012, I am the bgirl in black and white adidas jacket and beanie. Great fun, awesome crowd.

AAU Urban Knight Breakers, a crew that I am with at Academy of Art University with other breaking students. We are hosting sessions and teaching students on Sunday 3-5pm in the school dance gym, bringing the real hiphop culture back and keeping it alive!

Halloween costume design-Alice in Wonderland

Wanted to put my pattern making skills at work so thought it would be nice to make myself a Halloween costume for this year. I really liked Alice in Wonderland's costume, very 50's inspired, big skirt so here is my attempt.

First toile, getting the silhouette out
Slightly changed the design to make it more ladylike.

 Cute collar-done by drapping

Second toile-with the collar (front)

 Second toile (back)

Second toile (side)

Still needs a few tweaks but I am hoping that I can have it ready for Halloween this year so I can put up pictures and I am not sure if I will be brave enough to wear it.

It was an awesome night! Although it was pouring on Halloween night this year, but that didn't stop us from having fun in Castro, SF.

Virgin de Guadalupe en fashion

I was deciding whether to toss my slightly worn denim jacket away or to do something with it. I was in the right mood to paint so thought I should paint something beautiful and feminine on my jacket. placed some small beadings of stars for details, I'm ready to break!
